Water Safety

Safety on the Water

All of our activities are led by a qualified SUP instructor. We take water safety very seriously. Our instructors also have additional qualifications in Water Rescue, First Aid (including Paediatric First Aid) and are DBS (formerly known as CRB) checked. Copies of all SupAdventureUK certificates and qualifications are always available for viewing prior to SUP Activities. We also complete comprehensive Dynamic Risk Assessments prior to each SUP activity.

We strongly advise assessing the validity of both instructor and Water Safety qualifications and insurance certificates of any person you allow to instruct you in water based activities (surf/sup/kayak or similar)- especially where children are concerned.

As instructors, we are fully insured, and as such we adhere to insurance/professional body recommendations such as carrying out detailed risk assessments and having emergency plan procedures in place prior to any activity.

We always carry extensive First Aid kits, a mobile phone and rescue equipment.

It is not essential or usual to use a buoyancy aid or pfd for sup activities, because you are attached to your board via a quick release leash. We do however, advise that children wear them and always give adults the option of using one, should they prefer.

You will be asked to sign a standard form prior to all activities, to confirm that you are able to swim 50m unaided and to advise us of any medical conditions which you feel we should be aware of.

As our partners in the Algarve are also experienced, qualified instructors, they too meet the International standards required by the ASI.
