Carys is an ASI (Association Surf Instructors) Level 2 Exposed Coastal Waters SUP Instructor.
Based in Shropshire but spending much of her year on the Cornish coast, she divides her time between paddling the inland waterways of the Midlands (canals/rivers/lakes/reservoirs) and exploring the estuaries, bays and challenges of the open sea that the coast has to offer. She also has a keen interest in adventure travel, and with a background in the Travel and Tourism industry, is enjoying combining, promoting holidays with her partners based in the Algarve-Portugal, with her SUP Instructor qualifications love of stand-up-paddleboarding.
Carys’s SUP interests and personal aims lie with ‘Developing Paddle Technique for Racing and Endurance’ and ‘Downwind Ocean Paddling’. She intends to take her Level 3 Downwind SUP Instructor course shortly.
“I am only truly happy when I am in, near or on water. SUP is the perfect activity for me. Whilst my ideal paddle location is on the coast, this is a sport that is just as easy to participate in, when inland. I think that is the great appeal of stand up paddleboarding and why it is now proving to be so popular in the UK. I am rarely without a board of some description strapped to the roof of my vehicle. And my kit bag containing wetsuits and other equipment is always in my car.”
